Job Description

1) Toolbox Talk (five minutes to be held on daily bases prior to commencement of work) conducted˙by˙safety officer or supervisor.˙2) Inspection of work areas at least twice a day, to ensure that all operations, safety measures are˙being conducted in a safe manner.3) Providing adequate and safe construction equipment, tools and apparatus for the work and˙protective equipment for the workers.4) Take immediate corrective action when found unsafe acts or requested by the client.5) Lead contractor?s safety meeting.6) Lead company monthly safety committee meeting.7) Investigating and reporting all incidents / accidents occur on a worksite and looking for corrective and˙preventive action.8) Operating with all site managers, engineers, and foreman to encourage workers safely.9) Doing routine training to workers on firefighting equipment on a worksite.10) To develop, implement and monitor Board Occupational Health and Safety Policy, Programs, and˙Procedures.11) To assist the Board in complying with current health and safety legislation and/or regulations with˙the objective of ensuring that all reasonable and proper measures are taken to protect the safety and health of learners, staff and visitors.12) To establish budget proposals for the operation of the Occupational Health and Safety office and˙specific training programs.13) To increase health and safety awareness at all levels within the organization. To investigate and˙report on all serious/critical personal injury accidents occurring to students, staff and/or visitors to the appropriate senior official, and to assist in the investigation of all accidents/incidents that˙result in substantial damage to Board vehicles and property.14) To investigate and report on complaints of hazardous working conditions to the Associate Director˙and/or other appropriate senior staff.˙15) To respond to employees? safety concerns.16)˙ To conduct, as necessary, the safety inspection of any Board facility.17) To assist the Board?s Joint Occupational Health & amp; Safety Committees.˙18) To respond to fires and other emergencies on or about the Board property.19)˙ To coordinate registration and removal of hazardous waste.20)˙ To receive reports from and respond to orders issued by Department of Labor inspectors.˙21) To arrange for Occupational Health and Safety testing and/or evaluations of the workplace by˙external agencies/consultants as may be necessary.˙22) To act as liaison with all related governmental bodies and regulating agencies.23)˙ To coordinate the training of personnel in areas of safety, including first aid, CPR, accident˙prevention and investigation, workplace inspections and other matters related to implementing˙safety procedures in Board facilities.˙24) To coordinate the Board?s emergency procedures and act as the Board?s emergency on-site˙coordinator.˙25) To assist executive staff, senior administrators, principals and supervisors in emergency˙preparedness.26)˙ To develop, review, and update appropriate sections of the Board?s Emergency Procedures˙Manual.˙27) To liaise with municipal and State Emergency planners, update plans, organize exercises and˙evaluate procedures.28) To liaise with the fire department regarding emergency procedures, communications and fire safety˙education programs. To coordinate the selection and distribution of emergency communications equipment to schools and administrative/support departments.
