Laboratory Technologist*Please wait...*MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB* To perform routine laboratory tests in accordance with professional and regulatory standards and guidelines Perform routine tests according to professional standards and guidelines Monitor sample management, including sorting and allocation based on testing requirements Process clinical chemistry, immunology and serology, autoimmune, haematology, coagulation, blood transfusion and clinical microscopy tests and related laboratory functions Conducts analysis of body fluids, blood specimens, urine and spinal fluid Result analysis and verification of accuracy of findings Contribute to relevant quality improvement initiatives aimed at mitigating risks, compliance governance and increased patient safety Actively contribute and guide, where needed, relevant training and health and safety initiatives Operate, calibrate, and monitor effective functioning of standard laboratory equipment that includes analysers and maintenance of temperature logs*REQUIRED EDUCATION* A relevant Bachelors degree in medical laboratory sciences or a related field*REQUIRED EXPERIENCE* At least 3 full time experience as a general medical laboratory technologist Experience in blood bank*REQUIRED JOB SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE* * Correct maintenance of instrumentation according to manufacturers guidelines * Developing standard operating procedures * Knowledgeable in Approved International Accreditation Standards or equivalent * Computer literacy and proficiency in MS Office applications * Knowledge of real time multiplex PCR and close molecular systems * Knowledgeable in laboratory equipment and testing to perform quality control checks and instrumentation troubleshooting * Laboratory information systems and reporting * Laboratory terminologies as applied in the specific and related area of specialisation * Understand and follow standard operating procedures (SOPs)*Join our Talent Community* Become a part of our Talent Community and we will get in touch with you as soon as there is a relevant opening that fits your skills, interests and experience.
