Job Description

Purpose:RF Planning Engineer will be responsible for evaluating, planning, and implementing various RF designs and solutions for different projects in Egypt at IHS.?Key Roles and Responsibilities

• The RF Planning Specialist/Engineer is responsible for the design and planning of wireless telecommunications networks
• System dimensioning for coverage and capacity including traffic analysis, link budgets, coverage predictions, sites identification and selection (acceptance of candidates), and sites mapping and evaluation, RAN optimization, etc.
• Datafills and work orders to put new cell sites On Air.?
• ?Continuous interaction with:
• IHS Operational/Commercial teams and their external partners for new sites candidates? evaluation.
• Our technology vendor for RF planning inputs and Datafill creation.
• MNOs planning department
• Perform RF design activities related to building the first standalone 5G broadband network in Egypt.
• Design radio network and coverage solutions for In-building sites (DAS, active and passive) and micro sites (street furniture)
• Optimize the end-to-end RF design, propagation modeling and prediction, for deployment of Macro Cell deployment.
• Determine equipment and power configurations.
• Work with eNB/RAN and UE teams on RF solutions including modifications to RF link budgets on a per site level basis to meet operations requirements.
• Perform site candidate evaluation and selection as well as site walks.
• Work with RF Management to establish design criteria, link budget and traffic analysis as needed for network design and update existing performance parameters for ongoing improvements as required.

Competencies

• Solid experience in GSM/UMTS/HSPA+/LTE/5G NR RF Planning and Optimization
• LTE RF capacity dimensioning including traffic balancing with 3G
• Small Cells Planning and Optimization. IBS experience is an asset.
• Working knowledge of drive test data post-processing, map generation, frequency planning and interference matrix analysis and site database maintenance, using Windcatcher/Actix/Accuver
• Working knowledge in RF Planning tools (Mentum, Atoll, Siradel,? etc) and experience with model calibrations
• Experience with main OEM equipment Huawei, Ericsson, Nokia, etc. (evolution, specifications, capabilities, models, etc.)
• Experience with RF and MW equipment suppliers and corresponding specifications and capabilities
• Understanding of equipment co-location requirements for multiple operators and experience performing inter-modulation and other external interference analysis.?
• Experience with macro and small cell nominal and final RF designs including development, operations, RF KPIs, and maintenance of RF link budgets for 3GPP technologies.
