Job Description

Overview

  • Under supervision of the Appliance Technician Lead, installs, services, and repairs stoves, refrigerators, dishwashing machines, and other electrical household or commercial appliances, using hand tools and test equipment, and following wiring diagrams and manufacturers specifications. Connects appliances to power sources and test meters, such as wattmeter, ammeter, or voltmeter; observes readings on meters and graphic recorders; examines appliances during operating cycles to detect excess vibration, overheating, fluid leaks, and loose parts; and disassembles appliances to examine mechanical and electrical parts. Traces electrical circuits, following diagrams and locates shorts and grounds using ohmmeter, calibrates timers, thermostats; adjusts contact points; and cleans and washes parts using wire brushes, buffers, and solvent to remove carbon, grease, and dust. Replaces worn or defective parts, such as switches, pumps, bearings, transmissions, belts, gears, blowers, and defective wiring; repairs and adjusts appliance motors; reassembles appliances; adjusts pulleys; and lubricates moving parts using hand tools and lubricating equipment.
Responsibilities

  2. Installs, services, and repairs washers and dryers, using hand tools and test equipment, and following wiring diagrams and manufacturers specifications.
  3. Connects appliances to power sources and test meters, such as wattmeter, ammeter, or voltmeter; observes readings on meters and graphic recorders; examines appliances during operating cycles to detect excess vibration, overheating, fluid leaks, and loose parts; and disassembles appliances to examine mechanical and electrical parts.
  4. Traces electrical circuits, following diagrams and locates shorts and grounds using ohmmeter, calibrates timers, thermostats; adjusts contact points; and cleans and washes parts using wire brushes, buffers, and solvent to remove carbon, grease, and dust.
  5. Replaces worn or defective parts, such as switches, pumps, bearings, transmissions, belts, gears, blowers, and defective wiring; repairs and adjusts appliance motors; reassembles appliances; adjusts pulleys; and lubricates moving parts using hand tools and lubricating equipment.
  6. Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • Minimum Qualifications
  • Education/Certifications: One year related experience may be substituted for one year of education, if degree is required.
    • High School Graduate or equivalent
    • Capable of effectively communicating technical information in English, both written and verbal
    • 3 Host Country Drivers License is required.
  • Experience:
    • (2) years of appliance repair technical experience.
  • Skills:
    • Must possess good organizational skills
    • Ability to work with diverse workforce
    • Strong trouble shooting skills required
  • Working Environment:
    • Works in a shop environment. However, duties may involve the conduct of work in the outdoors with a potential exposure to extreme climatic conditions including frequent dust storms, and high temperatures ? up to 130 degrees in the summer months. Potential exposure to chemical or biological agents could exist. Employee use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in certain areas is required. Such PPE includes but is not limited to head, foot, hand, torso, respiratory, vision and hearing protective devices. Normal work week is 48 hours but may be required to work overtime.
