Job Description

  • Investigates the market and find new sources for materials and equipment, which will reduce the cost of the purchased materials and equipment and provide more flexibility to the purchasing process.
  • Establishes a partner relationship with the suppliers of materials and equipment to achieve mutual interest for both parties.
  • Communicates with the department heads and the users of materials to resolve any problems or difficulties encountered.
  • Responsible for the personnel evaluation within the supplies services department.
  • Designs and implement a perpetual inventory system to ascertain the quantity and value of stock items.
  • Coordinates the best utilization of items stored in the main Warehouse and departmental stores to avoid their expiry prior use.
  • Provides the administration with periodical reports to reflect the mactivity of the different sections of the department.
  • Provides training for subordinates and monitor their performance.
  • Coordinates for the continuous improvement in the processes and services of the Supply Chain Management.
  • Participates effectively in cost containment initiative.
  • Maintain a high standard of work as per the JCI standards and other standards as required.

  • Is knowledgeable of personal protective equipment to prevent exposure to chemicals, radiation and/or biohazards.
  • Recommends a sufficient number of qualified and competent persons to provide care/service. Plans daily coverage according to department needs and personnel ability. Make provisions to cover emergency situations. Adheres to the staffing plan and monitors staffing level on a daily/shift basis.
  • Interviews and selects qualified personnel. Follows policy regarding selection of staff and ensures fair employment practices.
  • Ensures orientation of new staff to the department. Assures new employees attend general orientation within 30 days of hire and if not, removes employee from work schedule. Accepts accountability for documentation for of the department?specific orientation program.
  • Conducts formal evaluations according to hospital policy and within two weeks of the due date. Provides ongoing informal evaluations giving staff constructive feedback.
