The applicant is expected to provide top industry expert level technical advice and guidance in chiefly, but not limited to the development of new drilling fluids systems and components inclusive of lost circulation & drilling mud solutions and methods of application. ÿAdditional expertise related to geomechanics, cementing, and advanced well completion are desirable but not essential. Keeps current on drilling fluids solutions, research, and operational procedures across the world and recommends adaptation and application of those that can be used advantageously in Saudi Aramcos area of operations. Conduct seminars, prepare manuals, and train and develop young engineers in the area of his/her expertise. Originate novel ideas to address stakeholder challenges leading to the development of intellectual property. ÿPropose improvements to current technologies in portfolio, conduct field trials, analyze results and recommend new or changed procedures and / or facilities required. ÿConduct economic evaluation of new and existing products to understand cost basis and value creation for projects under his supervision. ÿThe applicant is also expected to act as a task force leader to solve major problems in the area of his expertise. Represent Saudi Aramco in dealing with manufacturers, vendors, and outside consultants. Prepare technical papers for international professional societies and technical groups, and represent Saudi Aramco on industry committees or specialized groups as appropriate. Provide expert training and teach technical in-house courses and workshops/forums.ÿThe candidate should hold an advanced degree in Petroleum Engineering or related majors with more than 20 years in the oil industry, academia and/or related drilling engineering and rig operational activities. Outstanding technical ability and established successful track record in job performance as reflected by his prior job responsibility & achievements, industry recognition, intensive industry training programs, patents (granted or pending) and technical publications, is required. Demonstrated research capability and background on developing technology solutions to current and future drilling challenges, is necessary. Ability to communicate ideas, work with others, and utilize their expertise and technical knowledge to achieve results. Ability to mentor young researchers is required.ÿKey ResponsibilitiesConduct and supervise day to day operations of R&D projects within Drilling Fluids domainCommunicate and document research project plan and results to stakeholders and managementEfficiently deploy developed technologies to expedite delivering new solutions to stakeholdersPublish research findings in high ranking publications including scientific journalsGenerate and protect novel ideas through filing patents for purposes ofÿReview and mentor less experienced researchers in domain to achieve research KPI?s (technology deployments, publications, patents)Provide expert advice and assistance on operating problems relating to his area of expertiseExecute project management for development of new research projects within his area of expertiseParticipate in project technical reviews and reviews proposals for new or changed operating procedures on his area of expertise to ensure efficient and economic field test operations.Conduct economic studies on potential research proposals as appropriate to resolve alternative causes of action relative to his area of expertiseAct as Task Force Leader as assigned to solve special problems in his area of expertiseOriginate ideas for improvements, develops a basis for required field testing and Management review, analyses results and recommends new or changed procedures and/or facilities.Recommend, design and oversee suitable outside investigations to resolve problems which exceed current engineering knowledge in his specialtyMake presentations to Senior and Executive Management as appropriateTrain and develop Aramco researchers and technical personnel in his area of expertiseParticipate in technical societies and technical groups in his area of expertise; represents Aramco on industry committees or specialized groups as appropriate.Perform other miscellaneous duties as assigned by the Division Head to which he reportsMinimum RequirementsAs a successful candidate, youÿHave BS in engineering, Chemistry or equivalent technical field.
