ROLE AIM
  • The Ground Handling Supervisor is expected to coordinate all activities on the ground at all Stations in which the company operates to ensure a safe, quick, and efficient turnaround of aircraft from the time they land to the time they depart.˙˙
PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES
  • The GHS must have full knowledge of the company?s Emergency Response Plan by action and structure of the plan.
  • The GHS has the responsibility to ensure all team members have been trained on the company Emergency response plan, before being scheduled for duties that will require them to work alone.
  • The GHS has the responsibility to ensure that routine checks are done amongst the team on their Emergency Response and Business Continuity Plans knowledge during their shifts.
  • The GHS shall ensure before starting their shift that the Emergency Response equipment is available and in good working condition.
  • Eliminate the communication gap between departments by holding a pre-shift briefing with all team members engaged in the day-to-day operations at their assigned stations.
  • Ensure timely dissemination of information to all relevant internal stakeholders either via direct verbal communication, airwave radios, or by using mobile communication.
Ensure continuous monitoring during a scheduled shift of the following:
  • Daily flight schedule
  • Passengers? movements
  • Special passenger requirements
  • Monitor the planned fueling schedule
The GHS shall assign duties to the team present at their allocated station during the Pre-shift briefing:
  • Aircraft boat Captain
  • Aircraft boat Crew
  • Ground Handler (Dock duties)
  • As part of the daily duties of the GHS the following shall be prioritized:
  • Management of Disruptive Passengers.
  • Management of FOD.
  • Operational area inspections.
  • Wildlife dispersal.
  • Inspection of GSE present at their assigned station.
  • Ensure that Pre-flight safety briefings are conducted as per SOPs.
  • The GHS is the appointed Station Fire Warden and First Aid responder.
  • The GHS shall perform daily facilities, vehicle, and marine craft inspections to ensure compliance with internal standards.
  • The GHS shall ensure oversight of their entire station operations and if at any time the operation deviates from our established SOPs, the GHS shall intervene and return the operation to the expected standards. If the situation escalates or repeats, the GHS shall ask for assistance from the Ground Operations Director.
  • The GHS shall consistently survey their working environment for any potential hazards and rectify (if possible) and report them accordingly.
  • The GHS role does not exclude itself from any other tasks, duties, and responsibilities stated in the Ground Operations Manual.
  • The GHS shall assist and undertake any task required by his colleagues.
  • The GHS needs to collaborate with the Passenger Services department to ensure a seamless passenger experience.
  • Train, coach, evaluate, and develop subordinate staff by established procedures.
  • Directly supervise Ground Handling staff adherence to the uniform program, general appearance, proper procedures,and all other policies.
  • Develop and lead the team to deliver operational excellence across all KPIs.
  • Drive continuous improvement in people, technology, processes, and services, introducing innovation and presenting compelling business cases to develop the department into a market leader.
  • Write and update dedicated ground handling parts of the Ground Operations Manual under the Ground Operations
  • Director?s responsibility and ensure its proper dissemination.
  • Communicate effectively with all outstations on newly implemented procedures and/or modifications to existing procedures through the preparation of Ground Operations Bulletins and/or Safety Bulletins.
  • Any other duties that aim to the achievement of the department objectives within individual competencies.
