Job Description

IT Manager ? Mott MacDonald is a global consultancy whose people do exactly that.As an IT Asset Manager you will:Strategy & Planning

  • Establish (or refresh) policies, processes and procedures for managing IT assets through their entire lifecycle.
  • Explore opportunities for maximizing or exploiting unused or partially used IT assets to achieve full efficiency and ROI from company resources.
  • Participate in evaluation of the asset management strategies and roadmapsAcquisition & Deployment
  • Conduct and report software asset reconciliation and audit activities on a timely basis, including financial, licensing, warranty, and maintenance/support contract information.
  • Ensure warranties, maintenance agreements, and vendor contracts to assist with asset upkeep, upgrades, repair, and replacement.
  • Assist procurement team in developing and managing sourcing strategies for the organization.
  • Identify opportunities for volume purchasing to obtain price breaks.
  • Investigate equipment or software under consideration to determine ROI and total cost of ownership throughout product lifecycle.
  • Help in negotiating pricing, terms and conditions of sale, and warranties of goods and products with key suppliers and vendors.
  • Assist teams that negotiate pricing, terms, and conditions of contracts with contractors and/or service providers.
  • Monitor and analyze trends in company spending and inventory control to make recommendations for the future, and to identify areas for possible savings and/or asset optimization.Operational Management
  • Formulate and implement processes and procedures for tracking and analyzing technical and financial data of company software, hardware, and equipment from requisition through retirement.
  • Ensure software licenses, warranties, maintenance agreements, and vendor contracts are tracked and maintained.
  • Ensure an upkeep of accurate data about assets and co-manage configuration management system (CMS) to ensure information is up-to-date, accurate, and auditable.
  • Manage the addition, removal and updating of service catalogues and define the workflows for fulfilling requests for software and hardware.
  • Lead software optimization efforts and ensure continual cost savings and avoidance.
  • Manage risks related to the acquisition and use of software.
  • Perform inventories and usage monitoring of all IT assets and record all findings, changes, physical location, and incidences of support.
  • Research industry best practices and compare against the organization?s practices in order to establish benchmarks for managing IT assets.
  • Effectively communicate asset management strategies to team members and stakeholders in a timely and clear fashion.
  • Standardize software and hardware to lower total costs.
  • Manage toolsets used to inventory and control hardware and software.
  • Budgetary and financial management of ITAM activities.
  • Manage a team of asset managers and specialists spread across multiple countries.
  • Generate, distribute, and review relevant management reports.
  • Investigate and resolve exceptions and accuracy issues of the CMS repository.
Candidate SpecificationRequired for the position Qualifications & Education
  • University degree or college diploma in computer technology, business or related field.
  • Any certification in HAM or SAM advantageous.
Knowledge and Experience
  • 7 years direct work experience in SAM, HAM, contract management or purchasing, recharge/chargeback and procurement capacity, including all aspects of strategy development and execution.
  • People management skills across multiple locations and regions.
  • Project management skills and ability to deliver multiple projects concurrently.
  • Experience delivering automation, service improvement and other strategic initiatives.
  • Solid working knowledge of software licensing agreements required, a big plus for these vendors: Microsoft, Oracle, Autodesk, Bentley, ESRI.
  • Experience managing hardware from the big manufacturers such as Dell, HP and Lenovo.
  • Experience with dealing with professional service providers and negotiate consulting services.
  • Ability to work with software publishers and manage external audits.
  • Ability to manage true-up exercises.
  • Strong familiarity and technical competence with asset management software and/or inventory-tracking systems, such as Snow, SCCM, Windows Intune, ServiceNow and OpenLM
  • Solid working knowledge of current IT technologies, including Windows, Office 365, Active Directory, across a wide variety of areas in the enterprise.
  • General knowledge of finance, agreements, marketing, and logistics.

  • Ability to deal tactfully with vendors, suppliers, and contractors who provide a broad spectrum of products and services.
  • Superb budgeting, inventory, and cost-management skills.
  • Experience at working both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment is essential.
  • Can conform to shifting priorities in company requirements, product demands, and purchasing timelines through analytical capabilities.
  • Persuasive, encouraging, and diplomatic.
  • Ability to elicit cooperation from a wide variety of sources.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
