Job Description

Occupational TherapistDOH / HAAD License Arabic Candidate (GCC National) Experience: 1-3 Years Maximum Notice Period: 1 Month Salary : 16000AED-18000AED Job Location : Abu Dhabi Must be Located in UAEJOB SUMMARY:1. Provide direct clinical care to patients with mental, emotional, and physical disabilities, both on outpatient as well as inpatient basis, which encompasses occupational therapy assessment, treatment and management of patients referred to the department.2. To be able to execute patient care independently and report to the relevant senior and/ or other health professionals when applicable.3. To be responsible for managing his/her patient caseload independently which includes, providing appropriate appointments, and planning discharge with equipment allocation if required.4. Additional responsibilities as allocated head of department.MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:Roles and responsibilities shall include but not limited to: Clinical:1. Independently provide a comprehensive assessment/examination, interpret results, and provide occupational therapy treatment plan for individual patients.2. Help patient develop or regain physical or mental functioning or adjust to disabilities by implementing programs involving manual arts and crafts, practice in functional, prevocational, vocational, and homemaking skills, activities of daily living, and sensorimotor, educational, recreational, and social activities, directing aides, technicians, and assistants. Act independently to implement, treat, re-evaluate, and progress patient care to maximize rehabilitation potential.3. Promote maximum independence by selecting and constructing therapies according to individuals physical capacity, intelligence level, and interest.4. Prepare patients for return to employment by consulting with employers; determining potential employee difficulties; retraining employees; helping employers understand necessary physical and job result accommodations.5. Evaluate results of occupational therapy by observing, noting, and evaluating patients progress, recommending and implementing adjustments and modifications6. Manage an individual caseload of patients effectively and efficiently.7. Maintain patient documentation, records and accurate statistical information to reflect care provided and meet professional standards. To be able to summarize care provided and prepare discharge reports.8. Communicate and make recommendations to all relevant disciplines of staff to ensure effective delivery of care and promote multidisciplinary teamwork.9. Ensure continuation of therapeutic plan following discharge by designing and instructing patients, families, and caregivers in home exercise programs; recommending and/or providing assistive equipment; recommending outpatient or home health follow-up programs.10. Designate suitable cases according to experience to reporting staff.11. Liaise with medical insurance department, to follow up with physiotherapy insurance approvals and provide appropriate documentation to ensure prompt approval of referred cases.12. Work independently to provide on-call care to support delivery of the service to acutely ill patients.13. To supervise junior staff if required.14. Liaise with other healthcare practitioners.15. To maintain knowledge and skills according to current practice and literature.16. Provide consultation within their expertise and determine when patients/clients need to be referred to another healthcare professional.Administrative:1. Participate in the departmental Personal Development and Performance Review system to promote personal and service developments.2. Delegate appropriate tasks and supervise reporter staff and technicians to maximize efficiency and achieve desired quality of care. 3. Perform patient triaging as per priority of needs and requirements of health insurance.4. Respond to insurance related queries pertaining to any patient.5. Participation in the organizations quality improvement and safety activities 6. Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with hospital policies, rules, and regulations. 7. Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.8. Educational:9. Develop and update clinical knowledge and skills by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications to ensure delivery of evidence-based care.10. Develops occupational therapy staff by providing information, developing, and conducting in-service training programsOSH RESPONSIBILITIESWhile at work (and while on work premises) an employee shall:1. Accountable for reporting any untoward incidents in the Hospital to Quality department through Occurrence Variance reporting.5. Responsible for assisting in assessing Hospital Risks that may lead to untoward incidents.6. Responsible to report the Monthly key performance Indicators and Jawda KPIs to Quality department if nominated for the same.Code of Conduct:1. Ensure that there is no disclosure of any patient information without consent, except where it is required or permitted by law or if it is required to protect your patient or others from harm.16. The employees are expected to work within the various rules, regulations and guidelines of the section and Department in which they work.17. Ensure compliance with policies and procedure regarding department operations, fire and safety and infection control.18. Effectively and consistently communicates with administrative personnel and encourage interactive departmental meetings and discussions.19. Complies with organizational policies regarding ethical business practices.20. Communicates the mission ethics and goals as well as the focus statement of the department.21. Actively participate along with line management towards implementation of OSHMS requirements.22. Report to the respective manager any potentially hazard, unsafe act or condition, which may cause OSH impacts.23. Report all OSH hazard, near miss and incidents to the respective line manager.QUALIFICATIONRequiredBachelors degree/diploma in occupational therapy.EXPERIENCE:1. NLT 2 years post graduate experience as an occupational Therapist in relevant experience with patients with same diagnosis seen in acute Care hospital or Rehab Facilities.2. Experience in working with health information management systems is preferred.SKILLS/COMPETENCIES REQUIRED1. Must be fluent in oral and written English. Knowledge of Arabic is an advantage.2. Ability to maintain a confidential work environment.3. Ability to perform assigned tasks exactly according to prescribed procedures.4. Attended minimum of one relevant post graduate course in preferred area.5. Must be able to prioritize workload.6. Demonstrate ability to make independent decisions on diagnosis and treatment.7. Good time management skills.8. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with patients, careers, relatives, and other members of staff both internal and external to the department.9. Ability to meet the physical challenges of the job: mobilize patients, manual procedures, manual handling, move equipment trolleys, wheelchairs etc.10. Good mental composure and calm demeanor especially when dealing with patients.OTHER LICENSURE/REGISTRATION1. DOH licensure as occupational therapist.2. 2.Licensed to practice in home country/country where degree was obtained.3. 3.Additional Licensure is an advantage, though not mandatory.
