Job Description

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE OF THE ASSIGNMENT:˙The escalation of the conflict which began on 7 October in Gaza, resulted in the disruption of electricity, food, water, and fuel supplies, as well as restricted access to and movement within Gaza. This has caused a significant worsening of the humanitarian crisis and a large-scale displacement of the population within Gaza. Due to the magnitude of the humanitarian crisis, the significant impact on the supply chain and the access challenges to and inside Gaza, humanitarian organizations face significant logistics challenges for the delivery of relief supplies and life-saving cargo. WFP has established supply chain corridors and delivery mechanisms to deliver food assistance into Gaza, including Egypt corridor. WFP is establishing required staffing structure to best support the operational needs and to deliver assistance into Gaza through all possible means.˙To implement well-defined standard logistics/supply chain processes and activities to enable effective delivery of goods and services for all delivery modalities.˙ACCOUNTABILITIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide support to logistics operations and activities, following standard processes and facilitating, directly or indirectly, the effective delivery of food assistance to beneficiaries.
  • Closely follow up and coordinate with Logistics Cluster to timely prepare the manifest.
  • As per the logistics requirements and guidance from ERC / Logistics Cluster, prepare a daily dispatch plan from Al Arish to Gaza for inclusion in the manifest.
  • Maintain a dedicated planning tracker that supports the preparation of daily dispatch plan to Gaza and forecast for dispatch for the next days and weeks.
  • As and when requested, support in the planning and receipt of air shipments in Al Arish.
  • Support in the verification of trucks in Al Arish before they are included in manifest for dispatch.
  • Respond to a variety of technical queries/requests for support, following standard processes, and obtaining guidance as required, to ensure timely and accurate resolution of all enquiries with a high standard of client service mind-set.
  • Perform any other tasks as required.
