About the job Manager, Construction

  • Supervision of Subordinates: Organize and supervise the activities and work of subordinates to ensure that all work within a specific area of the assigned project activity is carried out in an efficient manner which is consistent with operating procedures and policy.
  • Budgets and Plans Contribute to the preparation of the projects budget and monitor financial performance versus the budget so that the project management is aware of anticipated costs/revenues and areas of unsatisfactory performance are identified.
  • Monitor the financial performance of a given area of activity versus budgets so that areas of unsatisfactory performance are identified and rectified promptly, and potential performance improvement opportunities are capitalized upon.
  • Invoice Certification: Supervise the rectification and certification of invoices related to work performed in order to safeguard Employers financials and to ensure accurate and timely payment to the concerned external party.
  • Consultant, Contractor, Subcontractor Selection: Assist the search, initiation of contact and short-listing process of technical consultants, contractors, subcontractors and other vendors to gain a deeper understanding of their delivery capabilities.
  • Activity Delivery: Supervise the delivery of activities pertaining to the associated project at hand, in a chronological order, in order to ensure a smooth completion of the project as per the stipulated master schedule.
  • Evaluation Reports: Provide expert advice based on evaluation reports submitted by various technical consultants in order to give management a sound recommendation with regards to their decision-making process.
  • Project Management Systems: Remain abreast with the design, testing and implementation of Employers Project Management Systems in order to facilitate Employers overall project controls effectiveness.
  • Procurement Process: Liaise with Employers purchasing department during the procurement process of technical consultants through request for proposal developments or competition invitation documents to remain abreast with Employers project needs.
  • Project Performance: Monitor performance of the appointed independent project management firm with regard to construction capabilities in order to ensure a project completion as per stipulated master schedule, allocated project budget and expected quality.
  • Policies, Systems, Processes & Procedures: Recommend improvements to departmental procedure and direct the implementation of instructions and controls covering a specific project activity so that all relevant procedural/legislative requirements are fulfilled while delivering a quality, cost-effective service to customers.
  • Continuous Improvement: Stimulate subordinates and contribute to the identification of opportunities for continuous improvement of section systems, processes and practices taking into account international best practice, improvement of business processes, cost reduction and productivity improvement.
  • Safety, Quality & Environment: Ensure compliance to all relevant safety, quality and environmental management procedures and controls within a defined project activity to guarantee employee safety, legislative compliance, delivery of high-quality products/service and a responsible environmental attitude.
  • MIS and Reports: Prepare departmental MIS statements and reports of Employer timely and accurately to meet company and department requirements, policies and standards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
