Assist the dentist during dental procedures, examinations and patient treatments.
Prepare the clinic; sterilize the dental equipment after every use, and set-up instrument trays.
Obtain patient?s dental medical history, maintain treatment records, and update patient?s files as needed.
Assist the dentist by holding and passing instruments and retracting tissues and clearing patient?s mouth from saliva or dental material using handheld suction, and air-spraying equipment.
Retrieves, sets up and lays out dental equipment and dental instruments, and mixes materials
Assists processing dental radiographs as dentist orders and assist in the monitoring and maintenance of radiation safety procedures and protocols.
Provide patients with dental advice on how to maintain oral health, and instructions for tooth brushing and flossing.
Respond to patient queries and complains, and assist in resolving concerns.
Monitors and maintains dental equipment and instruments (lubricates, cleans, flushes and drains equipment, reporting of defective equipment)
Maintain and restock dental supplies, in a timely manner.
Demonstrate proactive approach to patient safety by thinking what might go wrong in all your undertakings and take necessary measures to prevent them from happening.
Identify and report potential or actual patient safety concerns, errors and/or near misses in timely manner.
Follow patient safety-related policies, procedures and protocols.
Demonstrate as sense of team work and effective communication.
Partner with line manager to understand risks in your area of work, develop a plan on how to mitigate those risks, and develop shared accountability for implementing and evaluating the plan.
Understand patient safety and ensure it is part of the care delivery.
Encourage patients to actively participate in their own care process.
