Job Description

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Financial Management˙- Assist the Leadership Team in developing, for the Boards approval, strategic direction and positioning to ensure the organization?s success; Together with the Leadership Team, develop and recommend to the Board an annual operating plan and financial budget that support the organization?s long-term strategy; Partner with the Leadership Team on all operational and strategic issues as they arise; provide strategic recommendations;˙Oversee long-term budgetary planning, forecasting, and cost management in alignment with the organization?s strategic plan; Contribute to the organization?s business strategy and ensure financial objectives are aligned across the respective business units; Cascade organization strategies into an effective business plan and ensure maximum alignment between organizational objectives in financial planning; Lead the continual refinement of smarter information systems, provision of centralized information, increased financial and operational KPI information and trend analysis and benchmarking of the organization?s performance against agreed measures; Provide commercial input for all new business opportunities including acquisitions, and contracts; Scrutinize all business initiatives (including promotions, product introduction, brand development, business development, HR Planning) to ensure effective returns on investment; Communicate, engage and interact with Board of Directors, CEO, COO and Executive Leadership Team.
  • Financial Leadership and Management - Develop and implement a program of enhancing core business management processes including but not limited to: Meaningful business plans and annual resource allocation; Prepare and present monthly financial budgeting reports including monthly profit and loss by division, forecast vs. budget by division and weekly cash flow by division; Develop and maintain monthly operating budget and annual company operating budget; Review and ensure application of appropriate internal controls, SOX compliance and financial procedures; Oversee the preparation and communication of weekly, monthly and annual financial statements; Develop business acumen that enhances financial accountability at all levels; Provide financial reporting services that support profit centers in managing their financial outcomes; Provide technical financial advice and knowledge to others within the financial discipline; Provide advice from a financial perspective on any contracts into which the company may enter; Enhance Board reporting; Oversee the month-end close process, constantly reviewing procedures while eliminating inefficiencies; Ensure funding lines are in place and proactively manage with banker. Streamline compliance with all statutory and tax requirements; Proactively update Board and Leadership Team on issues impacting professional profitability and drive change if needed to ensure targets are met; Establish and maintain effective and consistent financial management systems, policies, standards, and reporting requirements; Ensure that organization maintains financial record systems in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles; Provide specific strategic financial advice and analysis to Leadership Team and Board in relation to proposed programs, projects, and initiatives, particularly in relation to financial risks and implications and commercial considerations; Act as a center of excellence in key corporate areas of finance, strategy, investment, decision support, risk, and value management. Ensure proper training of all personnel working on financial, accounting, audit, or fiscal matters; Manage financial planning and analysis department. Supervise creation of reports, software implementation and tools for budgeting and forecasting; Participate in weekly conference calls with Lenders, Vendors and Executive Leadership Team; Oversee preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements. Enhance and implement financial and accounting systems, processes, tools and control systems; Hire, develop and manage accounting directors, managers and staff; Serve as a key point of contact for external auditors; Manage preparation and support of all external audit; Coordinate and strategize methods used to attain team goals with Chief Accounting Officer and Regional Controllers; Support organization in developing projects for long term diversification of revenue streams;
  • Risk/Compliance and Asset Management -˙Managing risk framework, including all aspects of legal compliance, and strategic and operational risk identification and monitoring; Managing operating organization?s properties and assets; Oversee the preparation and timely filing of all local, state and federal tax returns; Ensuring that organization?s financial risk and exposure is prudently managed, including management of tax liabilities; Ensuring adequate insurance coverage is maintained; and management of all insurance claims.
  • Treasury˙- Plan and manage the efficient utilization of debt capital in a manner consistent with the objectives of the organization; Investigate and recommend comprehensive strategies to structure and raise debt capital; including making forecasts, managing funds and investments, and preparing periodic comparative financial reports for the Board; Continually evaluate alternative long?term borrowing strategies and make recommendations in accordance with the capital structure guidelines; Explore new investment opportunities and provide recommendations on potential returns and risks; Utilize forward-looking models and activity-based analyses to provide financial insight into the organization?s plans; and operating budgets; Engage finance committee and/or board of directors to develop short term and long term plans, projections and budgets; Represent company to banks, financial partners, institutions, investors, public auditors and officials; Evaluate, develop, and implement cash management systems to optimize efficiencies; Manage the due diligence and loan closings processes; creating effective process management tools; Represent the organization at business industry events, conferences, and with stakeholders and prospective funders.
  • Stakeholder and Relationship Management -˙Develop and maintain a strong working relationship with the organization?s stakeholders on financial matters; Develop and maintain a strong working relationship with the organization?s bankers and other funding organizations; Develop and maintain a strong working relationship with the organization?s financial service providers; including investment bankers, community development lenders, foundations, and other stakeholder partners.
  • Technology & Management Information System -˙Review all formal Finance and IT related procedures, process and administration, recommending improvements to the systems in place and managing the systems going forward; Review, recommend and manage Group-wide IT related projects (Financial, Sales, Manufacturing, other); Maintain and enhance the organization?s Information Technology by planning, implementing, and evaluating employee relations and policies, programs, and practices; Overall responsibility for the efficient and effective technology management and support of the business as it relates to the administrative and financial management of the business; Ensure effective BI tools are implemented to offer automated and insightful knowledge to leaders and Management on business performance.
