Job Description

Respiratory Therapist (RT)1-Treat a wide range of patients from infant through the elderly. 2- Evaluate patients by performing limited physical examinations and conducting diagnostic tests including those that measure lung capacity tests and acidity and alkalinity of the blood. 3- Restores patient?s pulmonary function, alleviates pain, and supports life by planning and administering medically prescribed respiratory therapy. 4- Takes direct and appropriate action in urgent and emergency situations. 5- Meets patient?s goals and individualized needs and provides quality care by conducting pulmonary function tests, Spirometry test, sleep apnoea studies, assessing and interpreting evaluations and test results, and determining respiratory therapy treatment plans in consultation with physicians and by prescription 6- Helps patient accomplish treatment plan and supports life by administering inhalants, operating mechanical ventilators, therapeutic gas administration apparatus, environmental control systems, and aerosol generators 7- Administers respiratory therapy treatments by performing chest physiotherapy, bronchopulmonary drainage, assisting with breathing exercises, oropharyngeal nasopharyngeal & tracheal suctioning, obtaining ABGs sample, Nasal, throat swabs & sputum samples, and monitoring physiological responses to therapy, such as vital signs, arterial blood gases, and blood chemistry changes. 8- Demonstrate operations and ensure the safe use of respiratory assisted devices i.e. inhaler with or without spacer, nebulization machine, intensive spirometer, oxygen cylinder, oxygen concentrator, suction machine, Bipap, Cpap and portable ventilator by patient or attendant at home 9- Evaluates effects of respiratory therapy treatment plan by observing, noting, and evaluating patient?s progress and recommending adjustments and modifications. 10- Promotes patients independence by establishing patient care goals; teaching patient and family to understand condition, medications, and self-care skills; answering questions within the scope of practice. 11- Completes discharge planning by consulting with physicians, nurses, social workers, and other health care workers; contributing to patient care conferences. 12- Assures continuation of therapeutic plan following discharge by designing home exercise programs and instructing patients, families, and caregivers in home exercise programs. 13- Recommends and/or provides assistive equipment and outpatient or home health follow-up programs. 14- Promotes continuity of patient care through oral and written communication i.e. documents patient care services by charting in patient and department records. 15- Demonstrate respect, compassion and cultural sensitivity to patients/ families and other hospital staff. 16- Establishes a compassionate environment by providing emotional, psychological, and spiritual support to patients, friends, and families. 17- Demonstrate effective communication and collaborative skills when interacting and coordinating care with patients, families, other health care team members and staff from other departments. 18- Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.Skills* Orientation Related Competency * Job Specific Competency * Respiratory Therapies Related Competencies * Equipment Related Competencies Job Location Al Kuwait, Kuwait Job Role Medical, Healthcare, and Nursing Years of Experience Min: 5
