As an international institution, AKU operates on the core principles of quality, relevance, impact and access; and AKU is a model of academic excellence and an agent of social change.Job Role / Responsibilities:Reporting to the Head, Biomedical Engineering (BME), we are looking for an experienced and highly skilled individual to join our team as a Manager, Technology Support, Biomedical Engineering.ÿYou will lead a team of highly skilled professionals who provide high-quality medical technology support services to clinical staff in their use of medical devices to monitor, diagnose and treat patients. The focus of the role is to support the hospital?s mission ?to deliver exceptional patient care in an environment where quality, respect, caring and compassion are at the center of all we do?. Primary responsibility will be the maintenance of medical device technology, including adherence to recognized safety, quality, cost, and efficiency standards. You are expected to be an individual having experience in repair and maintenance of multimodalities covering the clinical areas like Critical Care, Radiology, Radiation Oncology, Laboratory, etc. Specifically you will be responsible for:

• manage the day-to-day equipment maintenance and management activities
• develop and enforce Medical Technology Management plan and other departmental policies wherever applicable
• oversee the operations of assigned teams, ensuring KPIs are met, and in compliance with rules and regulations
• analyse, resolve and repair medical equipment issues through detailed analysis and utilization of engineering expertise
• develop and streamline equipment preventative maintenance schedules as per manufacturers? recommendations and/or as per environmental needs
• establish and develop departmental and operational budgets for all areas of responsibility and present recommendations to the Head of Biomedical & Electronics Engineering
• establish and maintain communication links to assure vertical and lateral effective communication
• establish work schedules and job responsibilities in CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) for the Biomedical Engineering department
• identify technological and productivity improvements and formulate plans to implement these
• monitoring and Management of vendors and SLAs as required
• recommend system changes that encourage quality, improve efficiency, and reduce costs
• train and direct employees to establish a high level of job competency and mentor junior employees to develop their skill set
• maintain safe and healthy work environment by establishing, following, and enforcing standards and procedures, complying with legal regulations
• managing and maintaining appropriate stock and inventory of critical equipment and spares
• identifying gaps and enhance the existing BME operation processes as well as adopt innovative solutions to enhance the system
• monitoring individual and team performance on a quarterly basis
• manage material resources to ensure efficient, effective, and safe medical equipment utilization and optimum performance assurance to improve the quality of work
• stay updated with relevant regulations and standards in the healthcare industry, ensuring adherence to compliance requirements such as JCI, CAP, SafeCare and relevant quality care certifications/ accreditations
• conduct performance evaluations of team members, provide constructive feedback, and identify opportunities for career growth and development

complete ad hoc projects and other duties as assignedEligibility Criteria / Requirements:You should have:

• a bachelor?s degree in biomedical/Electronics Engineering from an HEC recognized university; Masters or higher degree in engineering or management discipline will be preferred
• at least 10 years of experience in a managerial role in the healthcare industry (preferably of working in a large complex technical environment) dealing with the medical equipment
• processing Lean and Six Sigma certifications will be preferred
• professional Certifications: CCE/CBET/P-ENG/PMP/LSSGB
• experience of quality audits of ISO certification, CAP and JCIA accreditationÿ
• knowledge of medical equipment used in diagnosis, treatment, and monitoring
• experience of quality standards and have the capability to apply quality tools of lean, six sigma, FMEA and RCA
• the ability to establish and maintain long term professional relationships with stakeholders
• strong communication, people management skills
• the ability to work under pressing timelines in a competitive environment
• strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task and prioritize execution
• the ability to work independently as well as a team player
• technical, managerial, analytical, interpersonal, project management and organization skills
• the ability to learn technical concepts, new skills, and knowledge quickly
• be familiar with the rules and regulations of local regulatory authorities concerned with medical equipment

• experience in driving continuous improvement initiatives, optimizing processes, and implementing best practices to enhance efficiency and effectiveness
• strong understanding of electronic theory and medical technology
