Senior Medical Officer (Cardiopulmonary)DepartmentClifton Medical ServicesEntityAga Khan University HospitalLocationKarachi, PakistanIntroductionThe Aga Khan University Hospital in addition to its five Hospitals creates access through its Outreach Services which include Clinical Laboratories, Outpatient Medical Centres, Pharmacy services, Home Health and other services. Outreach Services are designed to provide primary to secondary healthcare services to patients near their homes and are present in several cities across Pakistan. Outpatient Medical Centres offer a range of specialty clinics including Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Endocrinology, Dermatology, Gastroenterology, Cardiopulmonary, Orthopedics, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Pediatrics and Physiotherapy, and cater to children, adults, and elderly patients for general health checks or specific disease consultations.ResponsibilitiesYou will be responsible for providing medical supervision to all the diagnostic procedures performed at the cardiopulmonary diagnostic services.Specifically, you will be responsible to:

  • supervise and perform Exercise Tolerance Test (ETT) by monitoring ECG rhythm as per the defined protocols and permission granted
  • perform physical examination and vigilantly monitor patients progress
  • communicate the progress of patients to the concerned Consultants as well as to the patients and their families
  • assess patients and take their consent for the procedure to be performed as per the hospital protocols
  • fill out the interpretation and conclusion data in the automated report of ETT in the system for reporting Cardiologists
  • participate in educational activities, such as Grand Rounds, ECG conference and Journal Clubs etc.
  • keep yourself aware of the latest infection control practices and follow the same
  • enhance the technical skills of onboard staff and trainees by carrying out regular educational sessions.
RequirementsYou should have:
  • an MBBS degree, preferably having completed MCPS or any other relevant Diploma
  • at least five years of post-MBBS related experience in Cardiopulmonary diagnostic procedures or ˙ Residency completed in the relevant field˙
  • strong interpersonal skills, particularly communication skills
  • ability to effectively work independently as well as in teams
  • proficiency in the use of computer applications
  • ability to handle work pressure and meet stringent deadlines.
