Senior Research Assistant (Lab), Pathology and Laboratory MedicineÿEntity: Medical CollegeÿLocation: PakistanÿIntroduction:ÿThe Aga Khan University was found in 1983 as Pakistan?s first private university, Aga Khan University is a not-for-profit institution and an agency of the Aga Khan Development Network. Starting in 2000, the University expanded to Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, United Kingdom and Afghanistan. AKU began life as a health-sciences university.ÿThe Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the Aga Khan University is a unique/distinguish establishment which serves the clinical laboratory of Aga Khan University Hospital with academic interest. This department is heavily engaged in undergraduate, postgraduate and technologist training programs. It provides professional training for higher degree in four major areas of Pathology (Chemical Pathology, Hematology, Histopathology, and Microbiology). Currently, there are approximately 61 Faculty, including 3 part time, 2 visiting faculty members, and 41 Residents.ÿAga Khan University invites applications for the position of Senior Research Assistant, Pathology & Laboratory Medicine. This is a platform trial that will evaluate multiple antiviral treatments for COVID-19. This randomised open label, controlled, group sequential adaptive platform trial, we will assess the performance of three distinct types of intervention relative to control (no treatment):ÿ identify quantitative evidence of antiviral activity in patients with COVID-19 is required to justify phase 3 clinical trials of putative antivirals.ÿÿThis is a grant-funded contractual position.ÿResponsibilitiesÿYou will be responsible to:ÿ

• performs day-to-day experimental activities, maintains detailed up-to-date laboratory

notebook, utilizes safe laboratory protocols.

• prepare and manage reagents and media.
• perform neclic acid extractions on automated platforms and set up molecular assays.
• maintain lab in clean and high-functioning condition.
• adheres to experimental protocols required for product development and lab services

for clients.

• follow guidelines on data entry, conservation and sharing.
• knowledge of biology including Pathogen biology, vaccines, immunology, microbiology, molecular biology, etc.
• use professional concepts to contribute to the development of the lab technology
• base and to achieve objectives in creative and effective ways.
• assist the team with documenting and updating Standard Operating Procedures as needed.

RequirementsÿYou should have:ÿ

• Master?s degree in Biological Science.

• at least two years year of relevant experience preferably in

research facility

• excellent interpersonal skills particularly communication skills
• proficiency in the use of computer applications, particularly MS Word and excel
• ability to manage time and prioritize tasks effectively
• ability to work effectively in teams and resilience to cope-up with work pressure
• excellent communication and report writing skills
• willingness to work in community setting and travel as per work requirements.
