Overview JOB PURPOSE The main purpose of the role is to deliver the following: ú Maintain world class standards at the facility, proper maintenance, and handling of potato germplasm ú Periodic DNA finger printing and virus tests of all the clones to maintain genetic purity and health ú Timely multiplication of plantlets to fulfill seed pipeline requirement and identification of key supplier and sustain relationship with them Suppliers/stakeholders ú Secure all legal and operational certifications required to maintain the facility operational and delver business results Responsibilities ú Ensuring world class standards are being maintained at the facility 1. Establish relationship with NARC and Frito-Lay, USA to have SOPs for media preparation, handling lab, growth room and germplasm conservation 2. Execute protocols and SOPs to maintain sanitation, handling glass wares and media preparation operations ú Ensure proper maintenance and handling of potato germplasm. 1. Arrange for long term preservation of all the potato clones 2. Arrange for maintenance of all the germplasm lines by periodic sub-culturing ú Ensure periodic DNA finger printing and virus tests of all the clones to maintain genetic purity and health 1. Identify right sources to obtain periodic DNA fingerprints and virus testing of all the clones 2. To maintain genetic purity and health of all the clones, arrange timely and periodic DNA fingerprint and virus testing of al the clones being maintained in the facility 3. Maintain documents/ record obtained from DNA fingerprints and ELISA tests conducted at regular interval ú Ensure timely multiplication of plantlets to fulfill seed pipeline requirement 1. Maintain close relationship with seed team to know the seed pipeline requirement 2. Understand the process of generation advancement and field multiplication processes 3. Arrange mass multiplication of desired clones to deliver right number of plantlets for MT production ú Ensure identification of key supplier ? glass ware / chemical / facilities for DNA fingerprints and potato health and sustain relationship with them 1. Identify best suppliers for lab glass wares and chemicals and maintain good relationship with them 2. Identify best and trustworthy biotech facilities to test genetic purity and health of all the clones. 5.0 Key Skills/Experience Required Qualifications QUALIFICATION EXPERIENCE / COMPETENCIES REQUIRED Knowledge / Skill: Experience: Competencies: ú M/SC BioTech with hands on experience on in Tissue Culture / Biotechnology / Seed Science ú Proven experience of media preparation, dealing with lab suppliers ú Understanding of obtaining DNA finger printing virus testing procedures Experience of dealing with local government authorities, suppliers, transporters, farmer unions ú Min 5 ? 7 Years? Experience in sub culturing/ mass multiplication of plant lets preferably on potato crop ú 2 ? 3 Years? experience in Managerial position ú Good linkages in the Govt sector Tissue Culture and Bio-tech facilities ú Innovative and understand key business ú Ability to understand Lab equipment and recommending the alternates ú Team Management with efficient and comprehensive approach ú Auditing and influencing skill ú Communication and facilitation capability drivers
