Job Description

We are looking for a Neurosurgeon Consultant who can provide specialized services for the diagnosis and management of surgical problems pertinent to the central and peripheral nervous system. The responsibility is divided between the Outpatient Clinic, the inpatient services for both consultation and primary admission and the Neuro-surgical operations.Duties & Responsibilities:

  • To perform the professional duties of a Neurosurgeon in accordance with the delineation of privileges as recommended by the Chief of the Surgical Department and approved by the Credentialing and Privileging Committee.
  • Provide personalized coordinated care, support, and treatment for patients and families.
  • Involving patients in decisions and helping them take actions to support themselves.
  • Involve patients, families, and caregivers by providing them with education and resources for offering optimal support to promote recovery.
  • Dedicated to the education of health professions students, residents, and Fellow physicians so they can work together in multidisciplinary teams to provide competent, ethical, and continuous person-centered care.
  • Provides consultation service to Inpatients in the area of expertise (Neurosurgery).
  • Provides primary care to Inpatients admitted directly to the Neurosurgery service.
  • Provides on-call emergency coverage for Neurosurgical emergencies (30 days/month).
  • Provides comprehensive and diligent neurosurgical care to all assigned patients, including pre and post-operative care and such neurosurgical procedures as are within the incumbent?s competence.
  • Assumes after-hours responsibility for the care of assigned neurosurgical cases and makes daily rounds for those hospitalized.
  • Adheres to the By-Laws Rules and Regulations of the medical department and assumes that work performed is in keeping with the established standards of the Joint Commission on Accreditation Hospitals.
  • Participate in the monthly Staff Meeting of the Surgical / Neuroscience Department and educational conferences.
  • Develops and Maintains professional quality standards, makes recommendations for improvement of such standards, contributes, and participates in the hospital-wide quality improvement program.
  • Maintains complete and accurate records of all assigned cases.
  • Maintains competency in procedures and related tasks.
  • Explain procedures to the patient and obtain relevant patient history
  • Treat patients with compassion and to be a person-centered care.
  • Participates and contributes to the educational activities in the department e.g. daily morning conferences, weekly grand rounds, clinical meetings, etc.
