Qualification & Experience:? Minimum Bachelor?s degree in counseling/ social behavior, etc.? Minimum two years work experience in a school is preferred.? Excellent Communication Skills.Lines of Communication:ú Liaise with the school director and Vice-Principal daily on any matters requiring attention.ú To work closely and co-operatively with other administrative staff.ú Communicate and co-operate, on a daily basis, with all members of staff.ú Communicate politely and co-operatively with all parents at all times.ResponsibilitiesTo help all students develop skills in the areas of personal/social growth, educational planning, and career and vocational development through:ú Program Planning: To establish the school counseling program and develop activities and resources to implement and evaluate the program. The Counselor involves other school staff in making decisions about the program.ú Counselling: To provide individual and group counseling services to meet the developmental, preventive, and remedial needs of students.ú Consulting: To consult with students, parents, teachers, and other school and community personnel to assist in meeting the needs of students.ú Coordinating: To coordinate all counselling services for students and assist with the coordination and implementation of student services in the school. The Counselor also assists teachers with the Guidance Curriculum.ú Student Appraisal: To accurately interpret test results and other student data. The Counselor also assists teachers with the educational placement of students by using appropriate educational assessment strategies.ú Professional Practices and Development: To adhere to ethical standards of the counselling profession, and abides by the laws, policies, and procedures that govern the schools. The Counselor also participates in professional associations and upgrades professional knowledge and skills when needed.Duties:ú Liaise closely with the Ministry of Private Education and to correctly file and date any documents received from there.ú Model the image of MAQBS.ú Manages time effectively and provides services on schedule.ú Maintains an organized, functional, and up-to-date office.ú Follow up individual and group counselling to monitor students.ú Presents instructional/informational programs to groups of students, parents, and teachers (e.g., parent education programs, group guidance counselling, and teacher in-service training).ú Interpret achievement and aptitude test data to assist school staff with curriculum planning.ú Assists teachers with the integration of guidance activities into the curriculum.ú Share appropriate information about students with school personnel, parents, and community agencies.ú Make appropriate referrals of students to school and community program.ú Conduct non-standardized educational assessment according to professional practices (e.g., students observation at classroom).ú Carry out other school duties assigned by the administration, provided these assignments do not interfere with the counselling program and services to students.ú Takes part in professional development activities to improve knowledge and skills.ú Identifies and provides individual counseling to students who are experiencing social, emotional or behavior difficulty, with special attention to impacts of the current pandemic situation.ú Conducts guidance counseling activities through interactions with classes of students.ú Coordinates the admission process for new students. Evaluate new student needs through assessments and interviews and co-ordinate with school registrars and vice principals.ú Develops and implements special programs such as transitions into and out of MAQBS (including orienting new students), or from level to level.ú Schedules regular follow-ups on all new students throughout the year.ú Develops annual Behavior Intervention Plans based on student needs.ú Monitors student progress and evaluates student achievement in relation to the Behavior Intervention Plans.ú Establishes and maintains acceptable standards of student behavior; follows school behavior protocol when dealing with inappropriate behavior.ú Reports individual students progress to parents and school personnel through the preparation of reports and facilitation of conferences.ú Communicates openly and frequently with parents.ú Attends staff, department and other applicable meetings as needed or requested.ú The high school counselor provides a comprehensive guidance counseling program for students to ensure they are meeting their post-high school goals.ú Any other duties as requested.
