Job Description

1. Organizational Context:Heavy rains and a combination of riverine, urban, and flash flooding led to an unprecedented climate-induced disaster in Pakistan since June 2022, causing widespread fatalities and damaging and destroying public and private infrastructure across the country. Rain-induced landslides and floods also damaged agricultural land and forests, impacting local ecosystems. Around 33 million people were affected by the heavy rains and floods according to Government estimates, including nearly 8 million people who were displaced.OCHA has been scaling up its operations since then focusing on its key functions of coordination, information management, resource mobilization, and advocacy. Accordingly, UNOCHA Administration requires increased capacity and has opened the position ofÿDriver (SB 2/2) for Islamabad, to strengthenÿOperational support to staff at sub-office levels. ÿ ÿ2. Functions / Key Results Expected

  1. Provides ÿSafe driving servicesÿatall sub-offices,ÿfocusing on the achievement of the following results.
  • Drive office vehicles for the transportation of UN staff, officials and experts on mission.
  • Keep abreast of traffic, road and security/safety situations to enable safe and timely arrival for meetings and events.
  • Ensure proper day-to-day maintenance of the assigned vehicle through timely minor repairs, arrangements for major repairs, timely change of oil, check of tires, brakes and water levels, car washing, etc, so that the vehicle is kept clean and in good running condition at all times.
  • Ensure cost-savings through proper use of vehicle, accurately maintains daily vehicle logs, provision of inputs to preparation of the vehicle maintenance plans and reports.
  • Ensure proper use of vehicle maintenance plans and assistance in preparing vehicle history report.
  • Responsible for safe travel and comfort of passengers.
  • Ensure availability of all the required documents/supplies including vehicle insurance, vehicle registration, vehicle maintenance documents, vehicle logs, office directory, map of the city/country, first aid kit, necessary spare parts in the assigned vehicle.
  • Ensure that the steps required by rules and regulations are taken in case of involvement in an accident.ÿ
  • Keeps track of insurance and other tax formalities.ÿ
  1. Provides support toÿOffice management support functions.
  • Deliver and collect mail, documents and other items.
  • Assists in the mailing and distribution of newsletters and publications and arranges to pay office telephone and other bills, as required.ÿ
  • Meet official personnel and visitors at the airport and provide support with visa and customs formalities arrangements, when required. Interpret in the local language for the official personnel using the car, when necessary.
  • Provide guidance and coaching to junior drivers, as necessary.

Recruitment QualificationsEducation: Secondary School (12 Grade)Experience: Minimum 2 years of driving experience preferably with a multi-national/ International Organization; valid driving license. Prior working experience within the UN system, an international NGO, or another international organization is desirable.Language Requirements:ÿ? Good spoken and written Urdu and moderate level of understanding English.? Knowledge of local language(s) used in the operational area is desirable.Duty timing: Radio Room is functioning 24/7 however incumbent will be required to work in duty shifts respectively.Other Skills and Requirements:? Experience of driving armored vehicle.ÿ? Good understanding of computer-based tools such as MS Office Suite and other computer-based, web and smartphone applications.? Experience with radio, satellite and web-based communications is an asset.
