SUMMARY OF FUNCTIONS: AP and Payroll Accountant will perform various accounting tasks related to accounts payable, petty cash, research accounting, and payroll. This position will work closely with other finance team members to ensure the accurate and timely processing of financial transactions. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:Review, verification, process, and document all invoices & payments (direct billing, petty cash, Research & payroll related) while ensuring proper approval and necessary documents are attached. On-time processing of DRGS requests, including compensation of research assistants & issuance of Research advances, ensuring compliance with the related policies. Coordinate with the Office of HR to ensure timely and accurate payroll processing, including reviewing supporting documents and recording invoices and payments. On-time processing of Center for Continuing Education and Enterprises (CCEE) payment requests related to the trainers and other payments. Processing of Direct-Billing requests after ensuring the necessary documents, approvals and compliance with the policies. Assist in preparing financial reports on research grants, including tracking grant expenses and generating income from the related endowments. Monitoring and reviewing Accounts Payable ageing to ensure timely payments, avoid overlooking invoices for payment and resolve any concerns. Communicate with vendors, faculty, and staff regarding financial transactions and inquiries. Assist with internal audit, year-end external audit preparation, and other ad hoc projects as needed. Handling period closing activities for Accounts Payable and Payroll accounting tasks. Contribution to the process, policy improvements, digitalization etc. Any ad hoc assignments from Finance Manager.SUPERVISION: Report to: Finance Manager Subordinates: N/AQUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE: Bachelors degree in accounting, finance or a related field. At least 2-3 years of relevant experience in accounting, preferably in a university. KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS: Knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and accounting software. Strong attention to detail and analytical skills.Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Experience with Research accounting and payroll processing.WORKING CONDITIONS:Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment. No or very limited physical effort required. No or very limited exposure to physical risk.
