Job Description

Role PurposeNEOMs Health, Wellbeing, and Biotech Sector is seeking a highly skilled and visionary Space Medicine and Ocean Medicine Manager to lead the development of innovative healthcare services and specializations in the areas of space medicine and ocean medicine. This crucial role will involve establishing cutting-edge medical facilities and research centers to support the rapidly evolving needs of NEOMs space exploration and ocean exploration endeavours.Key Accountabilities & Activities

  • Develop a comprehensive strategic roadmap for the space medicine and ocean medicine capabilities of NEOMs Health, Wellbeing, and Biotech sector.
  • Ensure effective integration of services into NEOMs Model of Wellness and care and associated Care continuum.
  • Align the vision with NEOMs overall objectives and mission, incorporating innovative approaches to address the challenges of these environments.
  • Lead the design, establishment, and management of specialized medical services tailored for space missions and oceanic expeditions.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration with NEOMs existing healthcare infrastructure.
  • Stay at the forefront of advancements in space medicine and ocean medicine by actively researching and identifying innovative technologies, medical practices, and treatment modalities.
  • Encourage a culture of innovation within the team.
  • Identify potential risks and challenges associated with providing medical services in space and ocean settings.
  • Develop and implement risk management plans to ensure the safety and wellbeing of patients and staff.
  • Establish and maintain strategic partnerships with leading space agencies, research institutions, oceanic exploration organizations, and relevant stakeholders.
  • Leverage these collaborations to enhance NEOMs expertise and offerings in space medicine and ocean medicine.
  • Act as a spokesperson for NEOM in matters related to space medicine and ocean medicine.
  • Participate in conferences, workshops, and media events to promote NEOMs achievements and advancements in these fields.
  • Build and manage relationships with key stakeholders, understanding their needs and ensuring services meet or exceed their expectations.
  • Collate stakeholders feedback on issues, challenges and unmet requirements and ensure action plans.
  • Support, or where relevant, act as the key sector representative in building and managing relationships with providers (e.g., contract management).
  • Ensure management is kept abreast of related developments, risks arising and progress.
  • Provide guidance and on the job training for junior colleagues and conduct knowledge sharing to facilitate. achievement of team objectives and completion of tasks in an efficient manner.
  • Assist team to perform their operations in accordance with set policies and procedures.
  • Promote a high-performance working environment embracing NEOMs values.

Qualifications / Requirements
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in a leadership position, preferably in the space medicine or ocean medicine domain.
  • Proven track record of developing and implementing medical services in challenging environments.
  • Strong knowledge of the latest developments and research in space medicine and ocean medicine.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to engage with diverse stakeholders.
  • Experience in managing interdisciplinary teams and fostering a culture of innovation and collaboration.
  • Familiarity with space missions, space habitats, and the unique medical challenges faced by astronauts.
  • Knowledge of oceanic exploration, marine biology, and underwater habitats.
  • Understanding of biomedical engineering and the development of medical devices for extreme environments.
  • Project management expertise, including budgeting, timeline management, and resource allocation.
  • The ideal candidate should possess a strong background in both space medicine and ocean medicine, with a track record of managing interdisciplinary teams and driving medical research and development. As the Space Medicine and Ocean Medicine Manager, you will be responsible for shaping NEOMs healthcare services in these specialized fields and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to ensure excellence in medical care for astronauts, researchers, and explorers in space and ocean environments.
  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree or equivalent, with specialized training or experience in space medicine, aerospace medicine, hyperbaric medicine, or related fields.
